Hey Sonya, glad to see you posting again and about something dear to my heart.Years ago I was in a situation where the whole town got caught in a horrible ice blizzard and no one had any power for 4 days, couldn't get in or out of town. Scared me half to death to think I could die in the middle of civilization because I wasn't prepared or knowledgable about survival skills. I have since taken many courses on primitive living skills so I need never fear again.
Check out this link about 2 great events that happen every year, Wintercount and Rabbitstick. The best instructors in the States attend these and are a wealth of info, well worth attending. http://www.backtracks.net/

Also wanted to mention the book series Clan of the Cavebear by Jean M Auel. She did extensive research when writing these books and as I have studied most of the the things presented in the books ( herbal medicine, primitive skills etc) I can tell you they are as good as an encyclopedia of how to live off the land and with an interesting storyline to present the facts. if the shit ever hits the fan, those books could save your life. Thanks so much for the Christmas Card, was a real treat to hear from you. Take care, Rhianna

YAY Rhianna - so glad to hear that you are interested in survival and primitive living skills, too. Yes, isn't it an incredibly scary thought to die in the middle of civilization because of such a simple lack of know-how? I think it is GREAT that you've taken courses, I have not done that yet but would LOVE to. Thank you so much for the link, I will DEFINITELY check it out. The books also sound really terrific, never heard of those either. I'm actually going to check them out immediately after I post this. You know, I'm so grateful for the Internet and the ability to share information like this. Helping eachother learn and grow is what the world should be all about.
